How do I connect a wallet to my Voice account?

If you want to take advantage of Voice’s cross-chain functionality, including Sending and Retrieving NFTs on other blockchains, you must connect a wallet for that third-party blockchain to your Voice account.

Steps

  1. In the upper-right corner of the page on Voice.com, select your profile picture, and then select Wallets. A window appears, listing all supported wallets.

  2. Select the wallet that you want to connect. In this example, we're connecting our MetaMask wallet though Polygon.

  3. Approve the transaction request from your wallet.

  4. Once connected, you will see the green "Connected" status in your Wallets tab under your connected wallet.

Your wallet is now connected, and you can send NFTs from Voice to your associated blockchain account. Note that you can only be connected to one wallet at a time. If you want to connect to a different wallet, you must disconnect from your currently connected wallet before connecting to another wallet.

If you want to disconnect your wallet, access the same Wallets area, and then select Disconnect, which disconnects you from the wallet you are currently connected to.


Which blockchains and wallets does Voice support?

Voice currently supports the following blockchains and wallets:

What does “send” mean?

When you send an NFT, you're sending it to another blockchain. Your original NFT is stored in a vault on Voice.com; meanwhile, Voice mints a new NFT on the destination blockchain and transfers it to your wallet on that blockchain. While your NFT is sent to another blockchain, you cannot list it for sale or auction or otherwise transfer it on Voice.

*Troubleshooting tip: When using OpenSea, your NFT(s) from voice may not appear right away. To adjust this, visit your OpenSea account's "hidden" tab. There you'll be able to see your Voice NFT(s) and transact or opt to make them visible. For more information and visuals, please see OpenSea's article here.


What does “retrieve” mean?

If you own Voice.com NFTs on another blockchain, you can bring them back to Voice using a process known as “retrieving.” When you retrieve an NFT, it is burned on the other blockchain, and then the vaulted NFT on Voice is transferred to your Voice account.


Is there a transfer fee to send my NFTs?

Yes, there are transfer and network gas fees. The rates are calculated at the time of sending.


What NFTs can I send?

To send an NFT, you must have a connected blockchain wallet, and you must own the NFT. In addition, the NFT must:

  • Not be listed for sale or auction.

  • Not be gifted to another user.

  • Be a single NFT, not a series of editions.

  • Have been previously sold or received on Voice.com.


What media types can I send to other blockchains?

You can send or retrieve NFTs that reference any media type you want, including images, PDFs, audio, and video. However, not all platforms support all of the same media types that Voice does. If you are sending an NFT on a blockchain where many of the platforms do not support the file type your NFT references, Voice will let you know, but you can still choose to send your NFT if you want to.

For example, markets on WAX do not support audio media; that is, you can’t listen to a song on those platforms. If you attempt to send an audio NFT to WAX, Voice will inform you that WAX marketplaces do not support that file format and ask if you still want to send your NFT.


On what blockchains can I send my NFT?

Currently, Voice.com supports NFTs on the EOS, WAX, and Polygon blockchains. More blockchains will be available in the future. Stay connected to our Discord channel #platform-updates for announcements.


Why would I want to send my NFT?

Sending your NFT allows you to take advantage of marketplaces on other blockchains. For example, if you send your NFT to WAX, you can sell the NFT on AtomicHub or NFTHive.


Do I have to send my NFTs?

No, this is an optional feature and not required.


Will I still receive creator royalties from sent NFTs?

If you create an NFT on Voice.com and that NFT is sent to another blockchain and sold in another marketplace, you will still receive creator royalties for that NFT. Voice collects the royalties from the external platform and then credits them to your balance on Voice.com in the form of USDC.


What happens to my NFT on Voice after I send it to another chain? Is it decentralized?

When you send your voice.com NFTs to a self-custody wallet, they are now fully decentralized and autonomous.

A couple of things happen when you decide to move an NFT you have purchased off Voice and to another chain. We take the original NFT on voice.com and lock it into a vault. It can only be released from this vault by the person who owns that NFT on the public chain.

We upload the metadata and asset file (image, video, etc) to Arweave - making them both decentralized and permanent.

We mint a new NFT onto that destination blockchain that points to those Arweave files as its source of truth for the file and metadata. This means that the new NFT and the data around it are now all decentralized and autonomous.

Then, we transfer the ownership of that new NFT to the wallet that requested the NFT be sent to it (which would have originated this request using Metamask, Anchor, WAX or something similar for our supported chains).

When an NFT is brought back into voice.com it is burned (destroyed) on the other chain, and the vaulted NFT on voice.com is released to that user. While on voice.com, this NFT points to the images, assets and metadata hosted on voice (centralized) but the exported data still exists decentralized on Arweave, so if that NFT is ever sent again, anything reusable will be leveraged, saving the user fees.


How do I send an NFT?

You can send Voice.com NFTs you own to other supported blockchains.

Before you begin

  • Ensure your NFT meets the criteria outlined in the “What NFTs can I send + retrieve?” FAQ.

  • Double check your connected wallet address is correct.

  • Make certain your wallet has sufficient resources to cover the transfer cost.

Steps

  1. Access the page for the NFT you want to send.

  2. Select the three-dot button beneath the NFT media, and then select "Send to wallet".

  3. From here, you'll see a pop up where you will be able to review the Send information for the NFT as well as the transfer cost. When ready, click the checkbox to confirm you understand that you are sending your NFT to another blockchain and then click "Send".

    *For using Polygon + MetaMask, you will need to set up Polygon as a network. For a visual guide, please see the article here.

  4. Your wallet will then pop up in a new window, prompting you to review and confirm the transfer. Be sure to carefully follow the directions as well as triple check your wallet address is correct.

  5. After confirming through your wallet, you'll then see a notification message on Voice.com.

    While Voice processes of sending your NFT, it may take several minutes to complete depending on network congestion. Once finished, you will receive an email confirming that your NFT was successfully sent.

Where can I view the NFTs I have sent?

You may view your sent NFTs on your Profile page under the tab "Off-Platform".


Why can’t I send this NFT?

In general, you can send any NFT you own. However, there are a few scenarios that might cause you to be unable to send an NFT.

  • The NFT is not currently owned by you and is owned by another Voice account. The NFT must be owned by you in your Voice.com collection in order to send your Voice NFT off-platform.

  • The NFT is a series. You can only send individual NFTs, not series of editions. Not all other blockchains have the concept of a series the way that Voice does; as a result, you cannot send a series of NFTs on another blockchain. You can, however, send individual editions.

  • Your NFT is listed for sale or auction. While an NFT is sent to another blockchain, you cannot sell or auction it on Voice.com. As a result, you also cannot send NFTs that are already listed for sale or auction. If you want to send a listed NFT, you must cancel the sale or auction before you can send it.

  • The NFT hasn’t been sold on Voice.com yet. An NFT cannot be sent until it has been sold on Voice.com.

  • You don’t have a connected wallet. If you do not have a connected blockchain wallet when you attempt to send your NFT, you will be prompted to connect your wallet. If you do not connect a wallet, you will be unable to send.

  • Your wallet does not have sufficient resources to complete the send/export. For EOS-based blockchains like WAX and EOS Mainnet, in addition to needing enough tokens to cover the cost of the transaction, you also need to stake resources, like RAM and CPU. Check your wallet app to ensure you have enough resources, and add more when you need to. For Polygon, double check that you have MATIC on the Polygon Mainnet for sending NFTs from Voice.com.

  • Your wallet address is registered to a different Voice.com account. A single wallet address can only be associated with one Voice.com account at a time. If you have multiple Voice.com accounts and you are unable to send from one of them, check to see if your wallet address is already verified on a different Voice.com account. If it is verified on a different Voice.com account, you can unverify that account and then verify your wallet address on the other Voice.com account from which you want to send your NFT. Alternatively, you can send the NFT from one Voice.com account to another account to which the wallet address is already registered and then send from that account.


How do I retrieve an NFT?

If you own an NFT that originated on Voice.com on another blockchain, you can complete the following steps to bring that NFT back to Voice.com.

  1. Access the page on Voice for the NFT that you want to retrieve.

  2. Select the three-dot button beneath the NFT media, and then select Retrieve.

  3. Select the checkbox confirming that you understand that the NFT will be burned on the other chain when it is retrieved on Voice.

  4. Select Retrieve.

  5. Approve the retrieve transaction with your wallet.

Voice begins the process of retrieving your NFT. It may take several minutes to complete. Once it is finished, you will receive an email confirming that the NFT was successfully retrieved.

Why can’t I retrieve this NFT?

If you can’t retrieve an NFT, it may be for one of the following reasons:

  • The NFT is not a Voice.com NFT. You can only retrieve NFTs that originated on Voice.com and were then sent/exported to another blockchain.

  • The NFT is not owned by a blockchain account you’ve verified.

    • If you transferred your NFT to someone else, you can’t retrieve it.

    • If you transferred your NFT to a different wallet address that you own, you must connect to that address and verify that account to be able to retrieve the NFT.

    • If you haven’t verified your blockchain account, you must do so before you can retrieve the NFT.

  • You are currently connected to a different account than the one that owns the NFT. For example, you might have two verified WAX accounts, Account A and Account B, associated with your Voice.com account. Account A owns the NFT, but your active wallet session is connected to Account B. You must use your wallet app to disconnect from Account B and then connect to Account A so that you can retrieve your NFT. Note that you may also need to disconnect your wallet and then reconnect it on Voice.com for the change to take effect.

  • Your Voice.com NFT is from Polygon and retrieving is not yet available but, is expected to be offered soon. Stay connected to our Discord channel #platform-updates for announcements on this and other upcoming features.


Why do I need to verify my blockchain account?

Many NFT platforms use your wallet address as your primary means of authentication. That is, instead of a username and password, you just use your wallet. On Voice, however, you have a Voice account, with its own credentials, that is separate from your wallet. When you connect a wallet to Voice, we need to verify that you are the owner of that wallet before we allow you to perform actions with that wallet, such as sending and retrieving NFTs.

When you send an NFT, your wallet is automatically verified. However, if you have never sent an NFT, you must manually verify your wallet before you can retrieve a Voice NFT you own from another blockchain.

When you verify your blockchain account, Voice can see if you own any Voice NFTs in your wallet. If you do, you will see an off-platform section in your profile, and any Voice NFTs owned by your verified account appear within that section.

You must verify the blockchain account for any wallet you connect to Voice; however, you only need to verify your account once per wallet. Once you’ve verified, you never have to do it again for that wallet unless you choose to unverify your account. Once your account is verified, Voice can detect any Voice NFTs in that wallet, regardless of whether you have a currently-active wallet session on Voice. You can have multiple wallet addresses verified at the same time.


How do I verify my blockchain account?

You must verify your blockchain account associated with any connected wallet to be able to retrieve NFTs from that wallet. Your account is automatically verified when you send an NFT; however, if you have not sent an NFT, you can complete the following steps to verify your blockchain account.

Steps

  1. Ensure you are connected and logged in to the wallet associated with the blockchain account you want to verify.

  2. On Voice.com select your profile picture in the upper-right corner of the page, and then select "Wallet". A window appears, displaying the available blockchains and wallets. Select your preferred blockchain, in order to then select your wallet. In this example we are connecting through the WAX blockchain using our WAX Cloud Wallet.

  3. Click on the wallet you wish to connect to verify. Your wallet will then show a popup window where you can confirm your account and connection with Voice. In the message that appears, select "Approve" to approve the transaction with your wallet.

  4. After approving the transaction with your wallet, after a few short moments, your "Wallets" will update showing a Connected and Verified status in the "Connect" and "Verify" tabs.

    Your blockchain account is now verified, and you can view any Voice.com NFTs you own in that account and *retrieve those NFTs back to Voice.com.
