Voice It is a way for you to bring original content to prominence in Voice. Each post has a Voice It button with a number. That number is the amount of Voice Tokens you need to Voice a post. Voicing, liking, and commenting on a post increases its ranking on the main feed for others to see. The higher the Voice, the higher the visibility.
The Voice It amount starts at 1.0 Voice Token and increases by roughly 30% each subsequent time the post is Voiced. The first time a post gets Voiced, 100% of the Voice It amount (1.0 Voice Token) goes to the author of the post. When the Top Voice is taken away by another user, the previous Top Voice is refunded 100% of their Voice It amount. The increase is then divided as follows:
- 33% of the increase goes to the post author
- 33% goes to the previous Top Voice
- The remainder is taken out of circulation.
The first Voice It amount is 1.0 Voice Token. The Voice It amount increases by 30% each subsequent time (rounded down to simplify consumption).
Let’s say Olivia Lee has posted about the future of space travel. You decide what she has posted needs to be promoted on Voice.
At the top of the post is a button with “Voice It for 1.0.” You click on that to voice Olivia’s post. Olivia then gets 1.0 Voice Token and you become Top Voice. Along comes Zane. He wants to voice Olivia’s post. The Voice It amount is now 1.3 (1.0 that you originally paid plus .3 increase). Zane voices the post for 1.3 and becomes Top Voice. Olivia gets 0.1. You get your original 1.0 plus 0.1, and 0.1 is removed from circulation.
Did you lose Top Voice? You can quickly Voice It again from:
- the global feed by clicking the Voice It icon
- your or another’s Posts, Likes, or Voiced feed by clicking the Voice It icon
- the bottom of the post
Voice It ranking
The more active the post, the higher that post appears in the “Most active” (default) feed. This is determined by a combination of the post’s comments, likes, creation time, and Voice It value.
